Scars & Stilletos--Book Review & Giveaway

Fear of being abandoned keeps nineteen-year-old Harmony Dust trapped in an abusive and cruel relationship. She thinks she has hit bottom-tens of thousands of dollars in debt, struggling to get by, and so controlled by her boyfriend that she doesn't protest when he begins openly sleeping around. Things can't get worse . . . until someone tells her how much money she can make as an exotic dancer. For the next three years, Harmony lives a double life as Monique, a dancer in a fully-nude strip club. ( goodreads.com)

I often wondered what kind of people work at a nude bar. This book reinforced  my perceptions of this , but this story was of hope.

Harmony has had a hard life, and was abused at an early age. She moved out at 18 and began going to school full time. She was also in a abusive relationship -who only used her for money and some sex. She also had a low self esteem that she gave her boyfriend money and while he knocked up another girl, she was supporting him. She didn't want to work at a nude bar, but that seemed to be her only option.

This was such a story of hope and trying to better one's life , no matter the situation. This book wasn't a book I would pick up and read.

I have never been into a nude dancing bar , nor do I any understanding of what she went through with sexual abuse or being molested at such a young age. It was nice to see that Harmony tried to separate herself with in  the 2 worlds of school and dancing. It was nice to see that she was able to help others out there like her and that she found Christ.

I just read this one...it was good...but your right reinforced images of the sex industry and that most of the women there have backgrounds of abuse....
